Support Groups

PEER RUN SUPPORT GROUPS

There are two great and functional models for Parkinson’s support groups. One is the traditional, in-person, large group that meets once a month to gather together others on their Parkinson’s journey, often hear a talk about Parkinson’s, and have coffee in community. These groups serve a wonderful purpose but, they are not for everyone.

The other model is small, peer-run groups. These often form in an ad-hoc manner – four or five people come together with a common purpose and find they have much in common, then continue to meet.

At Cycling for Parkinson’s we are promoting this second model. However, we are facilitating the creation and organization of your group. You bring your group together, we create your workouts – on a bike, a treadmill, an outside walk, or on the couch. You run your group on the Cycling for Parkinson’s platfom. You create your schedule, you lead your rides, you talk privately.

At the end of your session you have the option to delete the session or keep it for on-demand use in the future. Either way, it’s private and confidential.
